Colours are kind of a state of mind. They help me to brighten my days when the weather is so grey and dark and I am so tired from the lack of full nights sleep due to my small baby boy. Impressive how to dress in bright colour help me. But then again, how to get blue days when you have such a sweet smile to you like Mikkél does to me?

Party Large! Ideas for festive outfits in Lindex extended sizes

What time is it? It’s Glam time! This is the most glamorous time of the year where parties are all over allowing us proper excuses to shine even more (not that we need excuses to shine, but, anyways…) and I am glad to share some party outfits I picked up in the Lindex collection currently in stores.

The idea is to encourage ladies like Moi, that dress larger sizes, to try some new ways of pairing pieces ad creating unique outfits. Even when most of the clothes in the stores are black, you can still try something new for you, that channels glamour and fierceness.

Long bomber jacket and lace dress: back to the 90s

Long bomber jacket and lace dress: back to the 90s

Sporty styles are a must have for an updated look in this season. Combined with romantic textures, the outfit gets a new modern twist, resulting in a cool and fresh look.

When I first saw this long bomber jacket was in a picture of an email from Zizzi. They were really excited to have a patched bomber in the store and asked me if I would wear it. I just laughed out loud in the hopes of getting the piece in my hands right away. I had to wait a month or so, though, but it was worth it. Now I find myself wearing the jacket all the time, with layers inside for colder days or just with a dress in milder weather.

A plus size girl and the #KenzoxHm collection

A plus size girl and the #KenzoxHm collection

I was ready! Elbows sharpen, combat mood and adventurous spirit on! It was 19h, 2 degrees when I left my apartment in a central location in Oslo heading to the only H&M concept store in town. It was a preshopping event, from 20h to 22h in which the hundreds of people queuing in the cold would be divided into groups to have 10 minutes to shop the Kenzo collection before everybody else. It did seem like a great thing for me. There I was, super cold, enjoying warm coffee and colourful doughnuts that were served for the poor lucky pre-shoppers.

I was in the second group. From the window,  I could already spot the location of the pieces I really wanted. The idea was to run and score my favourite dress, jacket, boots and socks. I also had the mission of buying something for my husband. It could be anything I thought he would wear.

By the time I finally got in the store, I and dozens of too excited Kenzo fans apparently had the same strategy. When they opened the fence I really wanted to run and grab that dress, I really wanted. But I just could not be aggressive with the other ladies and the desired piece was not mine. It ended up in someone’s faster hands. But in a world where good connections are everything, my girl went to the storage and I got all the pieces I wanted, in the largest sizes.

Turning summer into autumn and the perfect fit

Turning summer into autumn and the perfect fit

The fit is the whole big deal when it comes to clothes. We want to have them embracing our curves when we buy a new piece, right? Fit is magic, is key. For this reason, it can be the biggest challenge for the plus size production.

In years of experience as an insider in fashion brands, I learned that if you want to produce plus size clothes, you got to cut for it. meaning that when designing a new piece, you must fit for the size you cutting. Seems obvious but there is a lot of brands out there working with what we call scaling – like fitting for 36 and increase the sizes using a table, a scale, and that just doesn’t do. You end up with shoulders by the elbows for instance.

Shinying in October Pink

Shinying in October Pink

October is a special month in fashion. It is when the industry supports the fight against breast cancer by donating part of the sales to research and development. Lindex launched the special Pink Collection and it is just great that the Finish house is contributing with fighting breast cancer with its own designs this year.

The pieces are a modern, feminine and strong conceptual range of carefully-selected garments and accessories in an exciting palette of colors with 10 % of the price being donated to cancer research.

Platinum Grey Afro

Platinum Grey Afro

I think I am now finished with the bleaching process of my hair. As I have shown in this post here, It has been a while I have been wanting this change and had an almost irresistible opportunity to make it happen, in a very reliable place that knew how to deal with my curls and used best quality products.

This time I did everything with Tonja Dahlen at Adam og Eva Strøget, in Oslo. She is known for her skills in coloring and to be bold as I am – actually Tonje is both great professional and person. She is flexible and creative, so, one good choice for anybody :-)

And then I became blonde.

It has been such a great adventure with happy endings. Let me make it short:

I have been considering to get blonde for a while now. Since the end of my pregnancy I have been visiting professionals to get advice and find the right one to help me through my blonde ambition. Finally I got to my friend Eirik Thorsen from Adam og Eva Grensen, in Oslo. The invited me to be a model on a Redken show he carried out in Sweden together with Tonja Dahlen from Adam og Eva Strøget – also in Oslo.

Style Edit: party time

It’s autumn and the party season is soon to come – or has it already started for you? Busy with all the parties prep or not, you got to check out my style edit for the pieces dropping at Zizzi’s stores and online retailers now and in the upcoming weeks.

Romantic & shiny curves

This top is all things romantic, the white plus lacey details added to the bell sleeves fit brings my thoughts to a romantic date in the seventies. In this context, a pair of discrete lurex pants and golden heels feels just right.

Plus Size Fall Trendy Look

Plus Size Fall Trendy Look

“School girl jumper” inspired top, super long bell-sleeved blouse and velvety details – all in the same look. Isn’t this one a good example of how the runaway trends are translated into the everyday fashion we get in the fast fashions around the world?.

Lindex has been offering a variety of trendy pieces in larger sizes as it expanded their fashion concepts to “all sized” collections. The “Fall Fashion Heroes” for instance bring feminine trendy pieces up to size 54, making it possible for full figured ladies as myself to have more options when it comes to affordable fashion.

Motherhood diaries + Mother & Baby outfits by Lindex

Motherhood diaries + Mother & Baby outfits by Lindex

We’re heading to the second month! Mikkel is now six weeks old and we are increasingly connected. I already understand him better and sometimes I can even predict some reactions or some of his needs. Of course, it would be easier if he spoke or had an instruction manual of sorts. K.K.K.K (nervous laugh).

The days are long as I have been always so busy – and that may be why time goes so fast. I get up from bed around 8am, change his diapers – I have learned that it has to be done before he eats so the position of legs raised when putting on new diapers to not cause discomfort and even vomiting. After breastfeeding I try to make him to sleep again by finishing his meals laying down on bed again. If it works and he finally sleeps again, I take a nap with him. It’s such a great feeling to be spooning with him. He feels safe and I feel the happiest mother.
