There is a time in life when prevention is the best remedy. Better to prevent than to cure, right? Not only talking about health but also about life. Wisdom comes with age and one thing I learned along my 34 years in this world is that sometimes it takes almost no effort to save ourselves from enormously damaging situations – whether emotional or physical damages. You just have to respect yourself, your boundaries and wishes. When it comes to health, prevention is clearly the best and it takes no effort at all.
See if you recognize yourself in at least three of the following items of routine madness: you wake up feeling like you need a few more hours sleep; by the first hour of the day you have already answered emails, thought uncountable number of things to do, checked your social media profiles, fed the baby if you have one, made coffee or tea or a smoothie, dressed to go to work and maybe even done some makeup. Are you with me?
In all this rush there is no way to not get stressed. And is stress is highly damaging to our emotions and even for our skin. It’s like, you even age faster. Last week, for instance, I noticed expression lines on my nose that I never had before. But come on, there is only one reason for that and it is that I laugh out loud a lot.
Truth is: I need to slow down the speed in life. So I can have more laughs and less stress. Multi-tasking is stressing us out. The We drive in the fast lane and eat fast food. We text instead of talk, pursue quantity instead of quality, and swallow life whole instead of taking the time to savour it.
All this speed takes a toll. Our relationships suffer. Our productivity suffers. Our finances suffer. And our health, both mental and physical, suffers. The antidote is to slow down. Yet with so much speed embedded in our DNA, slowing down can be a real challenge. The very word has negative connotations. When we think of slow we typically think that someone is dumb, or that we are falling behind.
But in the context of how we live our lives, slow can save us. Carl Honoré, whom the Huffington Post calls the godfather of the Slow movement, says, “the central tenet of the slow philosophy is taking the time to do things properly, and thereby enjoy them more.” So slow isn’t dumb, it’s purposeful. And slow won’t cause you to fall behind, it will allow you to catch up – with your friends, your family, your digestive system. A slow life restores balance. Some things we do want to do quickly, but not everything.
Recently I was offered the Vichy Slow age new day cream to test. The modern life harms, for instance, our skin with stress, pollution, hormones, damage from the sun and free radicals. This is what this cream tries to fight. It is a day cream with SPF 25 and I prefer to use it in the mornings. It has a subtle pleasant scent, like a very soft flowering cologne. It has a thin and light texture and it does not feel heavy at all. It gets absorbed immediately and feels like a velvet touch. From the first days your skin becomes brighter and softer. The results are really good and this is a cream that will be one of my first choices for daily skincare.
And another great thing about it: it is a great makeup primer. The products seat so beautifully on the skin after the Slow Age…
According to Vichy, these are the three most important ingredients included in this cream.
- Extract from Baicalin root that is a strong anti-oxidant. Baicalin root is a plant that can be found in China and has many benefits like resistant to UVA and UVB rays and very low temperatures.
- Bifidus lysate probiotic. Bifidus reduces the skin sensitivity and reinforces the natural defence of the skin.
- Vichy’s mineralising thermal water
My skin is reacting very well to the cream. I have been using it for a month now and I can see the changes. They are subtle but real. My skin looks brighter, more rested, has a natural glow and as I said, my makeup works much better due to the texture the cream provides to my skin.
From this review you get a positive idea of the Slow Age from Vichy. I will buy my next one and can easily recommend to anyone.
Here is a makeup tutorial I made using the slow age as a primer.
Been using this oil for a extra glow on my skin and hair. It is not sticky, smells great and it kinda brings the sun on winter days.
